Judgement

Ho'oholo

As Depicted Through Polynesia and Pele

Pele is the Hawaiian goddess of both creation and destruction. Her function, or kuleana, as a goddess of fire and volcanos gives her the power to raise islands or set them ablaze. She is often revered as a part of many Hawaiian's ohana, and though she exists in many myths as a jealous and violently capricious figure she is also a passionate goddess who now exists as the lava in Kilauea.

The Divinity

Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes, shares thematic resonance with the Judgement tarot card. Just as the card represents rebirth, awakening, and spiritual calling, Pele embodies the transformative power of destruction and renewal through volcanic eruptions.

In Hawaiian mythology, Pele's fiery presence symbolizes both the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. Her eruptions, while destructive, pave the way for new life and growth, mirroring the themes of redemption and awakening in the Judgement card.

Both Pele and the Judgement card challenge us to confront our past, embrace change, and heed the call to transformation. They inspire us to rise from the ashes of the old, embrace our true selves, and embark on a journey of spiritual renewal and enlightenment.
